Remnant Dichroic glass:
Substraight: Borosilicate COE 33
Remnant sheet glass.
These are nice large pieces and can be used for a number of projects!
Not to be mixed with lower
coefficient glass.
Borosilicate glass is
considered a hot glass and is mostly used for high heat applications such as
lighting and is only compatible with other glass that has the same COE
(33) I.E. Borofloat, Pyrex, Simax, Kimax, Duran.
When cutting the glass you
want to cut the uncoated surface.
To determine the coated
surface all you need to do is to look at the edge you will see the coating on
one side.
When blowing, fusing etc.
You will want to heat the uncoated side for best results.
The majority of our large
pieces of dichroic glass will have Nitto tape adhered to the coated side as to
protect the coated surface. You will want to remove the Nitto tape prior to
working with the glass.
Scrap
We are not responsible for
any breakage during shipping.
Once again, you will note
that the coated side has blue transparent Nitto tape.
To remove the Nitto tape
peal back slowly until completely removed. If you’re having trouble removing
the Nitto tape use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the tape prior to
removing.
In any case if the Nitto
tape is not apparent then it was taken off during cutting or cleaning.
